Summer is coming to an end and back to school is fast approaching. This period marks the resumption of a more intense, more stressful and more tiring pace of life. What's more, the winter period doesn't help matters with the cold and the viruses which will put your immune system to the test. So what foods can help you fight fatigue and boost your immune system?
Citrus fruits.
Known for their high vitamin C content, citrus fruits are ideal foods to combat fatigue. Indeed, ascorbic acid is perfect for facing winter and dealing with fatigue. In addition, vitamin C allows better absorption of iron by the body. This process helps limit the risk of iron deficiency and therefore the symptoms that go with it, such as significant fatigue and dizziness.
Tips.
Eat your citrus fruits whole rather than in juice for a better fiber intake.
Goji berries.
Used for centuries in China to purify the blood, liver, kidneys and fight fatigue, goji berries are powerful anti-oxidants rich in vitamins and minerals. As a result, they help ensure the proper functioning of the immune system and limit vitamin and mineral deficiencies that can lead to serious bouts of fatigue.
Tips.
In case of temporary or chronic fatigue, put around fifteen goji berries in yogurt, in your salad or something else. You can also eat them raw without any problem!
The green vegetables.
Source of vitamin B9, green vegetables are very good for health as well as for boosting your immune defenses. For example, spinach has a high content of vitamin B9, iron, magnesium as well as vitamins and minerals which play a role in the fight against fatigue. For these reasons, a varied and balanced diet should contain green vegetables in your meals. They will allow you to maintain iron health (literally).
Pumpkin seeds.
Originally from South America, pumpkin seeds are rich in plant proteins as well as iron and magnesium. You can easily add these seeds to your salads for example. They also exist in oil form.
Chocolate and dried fruits.
No surprise, cocoa is one of the foods richest in magnesium! Dark chocolate should be favored because its cocoa content is higher. However, be careful not to overuse it. Chocolate will help you stay in shape but remains a food high in fat. Dried fruits such as nuts or almonds are also important sources of magnesium. So don’t hesitate to make them your new favorite snacks!
Ginseng.
Ginseng is a plant from Northeast Asia known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Indeed, studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in stimulating the immune system and improving memory abilities. Before taking a ginseng treatment, it is advisable to seek the advice of your doctor.
Guarana.
Guarana is a superfood whose active ingredient, guaranine, contains 2 to 7% caffeine. Therefore, this food turns out to be very useful in combating temporary fatigue by stimulating the central nervous system. In Feed powders. LIGHT, we use guarana as a superfood as well as green tea, cayenne pepper and konjac.
Spirulina.
Another superfood, spirulina is a powerful antioxidant rich in pigments such as chlorophyll or beta-carotene. This algae has a high content of protein, iron and B vitamins (except vitamin B12). It has the characteristic of helping the body to replenish its mineral reserves, which makes it an excellent anti-fatigue agent.
Oily fish.
Oily fish such as salmon or herring are rich in vitamin D. These foods therefore help to limit vitamin D deficiency, particularly in winter when the sun is less present. The lack of vitamin D is particularly difficult for the body and inevitably leads to significant fatigue or even episodes of depression. It is therefore particularly important to stock up on vitamin D.
Seafood.
Seafood is rich in mineral salts as well as iron, such as mussels or oysters. Since a lack of iron is the cause of significant fatigue for the body, it is useful to consume seafood to boost the immune system.
In summary.
However, there is no need to eat only these 10 “anti-fatigue” foods to ensure you are in good shape all year round. Simply adopting a varied and balanced diet will naturally help you fight fatigue.
