“Don’t eat bananas, it’s the sweetest and richest fruit, it will make you fat!” How many times have you heard this famous phrase: “banana makes you fat”? We can never say it enough: no food makes you gain weight or lose weight, it's all a question of proportion and quality. The equation is very simple: if you consume more calories than you expend, you will gain weight.
The banana, due to its appearance and lower water content, has the reputation of being more caloric. And yet, is this really the case?

At first glance, banana is indeed richer and sweeter but again, it's all about portion. In fact, a portion of banana generally reaches 100 grams at most, while an apple tends very easily towards 200 grams. Please note, we are not telling you to stop eating apples but this clearly illustrates that eating a banana will not necessarily give you many more calories or sugars than another fruit. Nobody eats 100g of banana and 100g of apple; we generally tend to eat a whole fruit. This is why eating a banana will not necessarily give you more calories than an apple for example!
Did you know ?
The sugar content of fruit develops and varies as the fruit matures. A spotted yellow banana will therefore be sweeter than a yellow banana without blackish spots.
In summary.
So no, bananas will not make you gain weight! You can eat it again without worrying.
